Levar Stoney, MPLI Class of 2006, was recently named Secretary of the Commonwealth by Governor-elect Terry McAuliffe. His appointment is one of the first three appointments that McAuliffe has made since winning the election.

The Secretary of the Commonwealth is a very influential position that oversees many key functions for the state. Some of those functions include restoration of voting rights, pardons, clemency petitions, handling lobbyist registration, and assisting the Governor in appointing over 4,000 Virginia residents to state boards and commissions. Levar’s appointment to this position speaks highly of his abilities, character, and on-going service to Virginia.

Levar is the former Executive Director of the Virginia Democratic Party and worked for state Senator R. Creigh Deeds, D-Bath  in his 2009 gubernatorial bid. We are proud of Levar—one of our MPLI own! To read the complete Richmond Times-Dispatch article, please click here

Congratulations to Levar on this well-deserved and prestigious appointment!
