Susan T. Gooden, Ph.D., receives Dr. Jewel Prestage Award

Dr. Susan Gooden received the Dr. Jewel Prestage Pioneer Award, given by the national Conference of Minority Public Administrators (COMPA). It was presented to Dr. Gooden during the 2015 COMPA conference's keynote dinner on Thursday, February 19, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA.

As a tribute from Congress explains, Dr. Jewel Prestage is one of the first African American women to earn a Ph.D. She earned her Ph.D. in political science in the United States, and through her work and contributions since, has become one of the most important women of our time. Susan T. Gooden, Ph.D., is a Professor of Public Administration and Policy in the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs and Executive Director of the Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute at Virginia Commonwealth University. Gooden is also the president-elect of the American Society for Public Administration, the largest and most prominent professional association for public administration.
